6th International Symposium on Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PIBD 2022)

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD – Crohn’s disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC) and IBD-unclassified (IBDU)), are complex immune-mediated conditions and, although we have many good treatments, are currently incurable. The rates of paediatric IBD continue to rise throughout the world, and that paediatric and adult IBD is set to affect 30 million individuals globally by 2025.

This meeting offers a high quality scientific programme, great networking opportunities and a unique opportunity for delegates to immerse themselves in paediatric IBD (PIBD) among a global gathering of hundreds of paediatric gastroenterologists, scientists, nurses, dieticians, surgeons and all those who care for children and young people with IBD clinically or through research.

Given the unique global nature of the PIBD 2022 Symposium taking place in Edinburgh, it will have a mixture of world-leading Scottish, UK and international PIBD experts at this family event, including Professor Anne Griffiths from Toronto and Professor Marla Dubinsky from New York. These experts will be available for informal discussions as well as cutting-edge updates.

The main symposium has a scientific track as well as a clinical track to give the highest chance of meeting delegates’ educational needs. Both an ‘IBD science’ course and a ‘PIBD for Industry’ course will run on the Wednesday, together with the more traditional comprehensive clinical postgraduate course.

Paediatric IBD Patient and Family Education Day will – 10th September

This is opportunity for children and young people and their families to share their experiences with IBD, connect and find support from others who are in a similar position and who understand what they are going through. This event and activities are best suited to children aged 6 years and older, with the talks best suited for older children and adults.
